| "Liberté. Egalité. Fraternité." France--sister to America, the country Thomas
Jefferson loved and explored, from
its agriculture
to its high refinement, from its governance
to its noble architecture. France is
a living
museum of the wealth of the past and
dynamism
and vibrancy of the present. Paris, City of Light, from Cathedral de Notre Dame to Haute Couture, Left Bank cafes, artists, and intellectual enlightenment to the Right Bank l'Opera, Louvre, Marais, and Champs-Elysees. From the Beaux-Arts Ball to Montmartre, le Metro to sport in the Bois de Bologne, Louvre to sidewalk artists, the delights of small bistros to the Tour Eiffel, theatre classique to the Comedie Française, French cinema to expansive Versailles, Paris is, in Ernest Hemingway's words, "a moveable feast." At the University of Paris (Sorbonne), students have gathered for hundreds and hundreds of years, debating perennial questions, philosophical truths, literature, arts, history, religion, and government. Here one can read the French dailies, view French media and discover new perspectives on America and the world, as seen through the eyes of the French. Founded in 1253 by Robert de Sorbon, the University of Paris (Sorbonne) today attracts hundreds of thousands of students from throughout the world. The Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne is organized especially for foreign students. Study French and related courses in literature, art history, civilization, etc. that you need for school, academic study, career, and enjoyment.
