Italy, a land of immortal art and architecture--of Michelangelo, Raffaello, da Vinci, Giotto, Angelico, Brunneleschi, a land of creativity and drama in cinema and fashion. From Sicily to the Vatican to the Dolomite Mountains, Italy contains extraordinary treasures of geophysical, architectural, monumental, and other beauty and significance. There “la pasta” and numerous other country-to-gourmet cuisine can be savored in myriad styles and locations. There music and opera and film and recitals and impromptu performances seem to pervade all of life. No one goes to Italy and can escape its seemingly endless delight and magnificence.

Florence, Italy offers unparalleled treasures that keep devotees returning year after year. Masterpieces by Giotto, Donatello, da Vinci, Raffaello, Michaelangelo, Fra Angelico, and others grace the city outside and inside, offering extraordinary original art treasures for art students and appreciators. In Florence, Dante wrote The Divine Comedy, Machiavelli wrote The Prince, Boccaccio the Decameron. In Florence, modern-day writers and artists and travellers have sojourned for nourishment, inspiration, and enjoyment. There students from all over the world live and study in that Renaissance capitol of the world.


One of Italy's most prestigious and oldest universities
, the Università di Firenze, is our host, where one can study Italian and related literature, art history, civilization, and/or the related that you need for academic study, career, and more. Study Italian (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) with native Italian expert teachers in this excellent Italian university program! Experience total immersion in Italian culture! Enjoy Italian Renaissance arts and culture, food, shopping, and people! Perfect for students of every age, over 18. No prior study of Italian required. Class level determined with placement test on arrival. (Optional weekend excursions to San Gimignano, Sienna, Pisa, Pistoia, Lucca, Bologna, Rome, Venice, Milan, Cote d’Azur. Return date to USA optional.)

Each Winter, Spring, and Autumn course comprises a total of 120 hours. Each Summer course comprises a total of 60 hours. Each language course concentrates on grammar and communication. A high standard of language can only be achieved with a good command of grammar. Each course is designed for qualified high school graduates, college students, careerists, and others. Class size is limited to 12 persons each.

Additional courses in Italian literature, art history, Italian culture, sociology, economics, law, sciences, psychology, and other subjects are made available to students who have reached the Intermediate level. It is possible to earn 12 - 16 credit hours per semester and 6 - 9 credit hours during the summer.

Each participant who has attended the courses regularly and passed the final examinations can obtain a Certificate of Attendance. Transcripts and credits have been approved by most American and British universities. Teachers are qualified native speakers. Accommodations are provided in Italian homes & pensions

Eligibility: Students of every age over 18 years. No language requirement for beginners. Intermediate and advanced students require language preparation.

Levels of Instruction:
beginner through advanced levels, plus regular courses in Italian in academic subjects.

Duration: summer, semester, and academic year.

Languages of Instruction:
most courses are conducted in Italian.

Program Fee Includes: tuition, transcript, housing in student residence or pension, meal plan, insurances, International Student Identity Card, academic and student advisement, orientation, study abroad handbook, air transport OW NY-Florence.

Program Fee Does Not Include: items subject to personal preference and interest, such as baggage insurance, in-city transportation, entertainment, restaurants, museums, laundry, personal shopping, return airfare at participant's convenience.

Program Fee:
Summer - $10,495; Semester - approx. $16,495; Academic Year - $29,395.
(Due to some currency fluctuations and other academic, cultural, and/or political etc. matters beyond its control, EduServe/GlobaLearn Programs reserve the right to modify the above fee if any such changes in normally anticipated constant conditions occur prior to departure from The USA.)

Application Deadlines: October 30 for 1/10 - 4/30 program. March 15 for July-August program April 15 for 9/1 - 12/15 program. Apply as early as possible for guaranteed space. Any 2 or more sessions can be combined.

Registration Deadlines: November 15 for 1/10 - 4/30 program. March 30 for Summer program. April 30 for 9/1-12/15 program. A nonrefundable deposit of $500 is required upon registration. Balance is required before departure. Register early for guaranteed space.
