  • advisement,
  • orientation program,
  • insurances,
  • ISIC,
  • on-site director,

  • if all-inclusive, one-way flight in fixed US dollar amounts from New York to London, Paris, or other major point nearest the study abroad program.
Program fees do not cover variable personal costs of meals, local transportation, spending money, vacations, or return travel at the end of the program.

Working Abroad. Whatever the regulations may allow, it is recommended that students do not count on working abroad during the study abroad program. Study abroad requires a substantial investment of time. In addition to the uncertainty that a student can find a job abroad, courses, home work, and cultural visits will take up the student's time. Also, students want to schedule adequate time to make the most of the additional academic, social, cultural, and professional opportunities available. If work can be secured abroad, adequate time for the above must be allotted to make the study abroad program worthwhile academically in terms of credit hours, content, and value to the student.

Scholarships. EduServe makes available scholarships to assist qualified students. Please consult the program file with regard to EduServe Merit Scholarships for applicable information relative to EduServe/GlobaLearn Study Abroad Programs.

Financial Aid. The student's home institution is responsible for making all financial aid determinations. Each student's home institution administers all aid, including financial aid for study abroad. Students who receive loans and financial aid should meet with a counselor from the financial aid office on your campus to discuss the possibility of
covering all or part of your program fee by transferring your financial aid package. Certain types of aid, especially the federal Pell Grants and Stafford Loans can be transferred. Perkins Loans are rarely applied, because they involve campus-based funds that may less likely transfer. Additional assistance may be available through the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS) program or the Supplemental Loans for Students (SLS). The earlier one begins the process of of applying for financial aid, the sooner one can be assured that there will be adequate needed resources for study abroad. (See also Financial Aid.)

Application Fee and Program Deposit. An application fee is required with the Enrollment Application. There is no fee for the EduServe Merit Scholarship application. One's EduServe/GlobaLearn Enrollment Application cannot be processed without the fee. However once an applicant submits one application and one fee, the applicant can select any number of programs for any one given year of study abroad. In addition, upon acceptance to any EduServe GlobaLearn Study Abroad program, a deposit is required to reserve your place. This deposit is required within two weeks of acceptance, or the date indicated with the acceptance letter. The deposit is non-refundable, but is credited in full toward the overall program fee. If you apply after the program closing date, your deposit is required at the time you apply and is refundable only if you are not offered a program placement.

Fee Payments & Refunds. After the deposit is credited toward the overall program fee cost of your program, the balance is due in accordance with the terms set forth in the acceptance letter, generally one to two months prior to the start of the program date. Full-year balances are payable as two semesters and are divided into two payments: one before the first and one before the second semesters. Please note that no program fee payments may be refunded because substantial financial commitments on the student's behalf are required well in advance of the program starting date. If you withdraw from the program before the first day of orientation overseas, only the funds that have not already been committed foryour participation can be refunded. After the opening day of orientation overseas, refunds can be made only in the case of serious illness or an emergency that requires your return to the United States. Any refund is limited to the amount recoverable at the time you leave the program.
