DelPezzo at EduServe Forum. Presenting information on psychological transformation from psychoanalyst Carl Jung and from William Bridge’s classic text Transitions, she showed how these theories parallel human, cultural, and spiritual evolution, using passages from L. Robert Keck, cultural anthropologist and pastor, and how we can use them to guide us on our personal journeys now and in the future. The Wilderness: Entering the Unknown. Endings, disconnection, and new beginnings are three stages of transitions, "as in Christ's journey in the wilderness," she said. Questions to be addressed are: What do we expect to find along the journey's course? Are we to do the journey alone? Can anyone do the journey for us? How do we handle the uncertainties of a journey with no guaranteed outcome? How do we deal with the pain that the uncertainty and change can often cause? Discovering our True Inner Power: When we experience the wilderness and discover our own nature, we are in touch with, or at home with our instinctual nature and purpose, she said. True empowerment comes from within the individual and is connected with our "passionate center." It is a synergistic harmony of Yin (feminine) and Yang (masculine). The act of separation, called for in the heroic journey, brings about a decision tree, she related. This decision tree includes the "yes" or "no" to a self or other defined destiny. Can we suffer the pain of giving up what we have outgrown? Are we ready for a collective transformation brought on by the critical mass of attitude shifts which have been thousands of years in the making? Are we ready for the spiritual demands of a new society? The Visionary's Mission: Creativity, Courage, Commitment. Where am I going? Having begun the heroic journey to find my mission and purpose as a co-creator, what have I found? If I do not have an answer, what is blocking me from my destiny? Am I lacking in courage, commitment, or a belief that true empowerment taps me into my passionate center? Where do I go to renew my passionate center? How do I link my vision and mission to those around me? _______________________________________ *Elizabeth M. DelPezzo, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and motivational speaker.
