Ten Commandments*
Moses

"And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your God ....
  • 'You shall have no other gods before The ONE LORD who I am.
  • 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image -- any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them ....
  • 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
  • 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, ... daughter, ... servants, nor your cattle, nor the stranger who is within your gates ....
  • 'Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the earth that the LORD your God is giving you.
  • 'You shall not murder.
  • 'You shall not commit adultery.
  • 'You shall not steal.
  • 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  • 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. You shall not covet your neighbor's male servant, nor his female servant. You shall not covet your neighbor's ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'
" ... And Moses said to the people, 'Do not fear; for God has come to test you, ... that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.' "

, Exodus 20:1-20; Deuteronomy 5:1-22.

* Acknowledging that some ancient manuscripts divide the "Ten Commandments" numerically somewhat differently, the above are unnumbered here and follow the order set forth in The Holy Bible (NKJV).

The first four of the "Ten Commandments" above set forth man's duties to The Creator. The remaining six commandments above set forth man's duties to one another. A summary of the "Ten Commandments" is stated in the "Great Commandment" and "Royal Law." When practiced together, the "Great Commandment," "Royal Law," and "Ten Commandments" each strengthen one another.
