Apostles' Creed*
"I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in
Jesus Christ, His only Son, our
Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy
Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was
buried.
He descended into hell. The third day,
He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into Heaven and sits
at the right hand of God the Father
Almighty. From thence, He shall come
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church **,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen."

* "The Apostles' Creed" is a sacred
profession of faith of Christians. A second profession called "The Nicene
Creed," also popular among Christians,
is somewhat longer and more detailed.
** The Creed's "holy catholic Church"
pertains to the visible and invisible "catholic"
(meaning "universal") church of
Jesus Christ that includes Orthodox, Roman
Catholic, Protestant, and other Christian
faiths. Christians are related to the holy
Church universal through their mystical unity
with Jesus Christ and The Eternal Father
who is The One God of Abraham, Moses, David,
and Jesus Christ.
